S3 ENGINE ROUGH RUNNING ! HELP PLEASE

hi all

started her up today after not using my car for a week
she fired up straight away but its not running to well very lumpy and not reving freely with a strong smell of fuel ?
any ideas on what it could be , my car was going very well last week with no issues or misfiring

any idea's guys

update . when pressing the gas peddle the engine dies then picks up but still with a misfire

Has it got plenty of fuel in as I ran out recently and it ran like a bag of spanners with similar symptoms to what you describe.

i just looked at the tvr s series site and they mention the throttle pot gives the same problems
i'll test it out in the morning

When one of the flexi pipes between the afm's and plenum came loose on mine it did something similar ?

Had me worried for a bit (two days before trip to Italy) but big relief and easy fix when I found it.

When I had one I didn't use it that often and this was a regular problem. Cleaned it with a silicone spray iirc or somethimes got away with just moving it/throttle a lot. Sure you'll find that elsewhere though.

Normally a 'yellow' connector problem results in the car cutting out rather than rough running

hi all

i fixed the problem today
it was my throttle pot , did a test by disconnecting the electric to the tp and starting up my car
the problem went away which confirmed the tp was faulty , got a new one today from a local motor factor and she's running fine
so off to my herts n beds tvr meet tomorrow
