Nothing else all day, you'd think Willie's engagement announcement was the only thing that happened today. First the national news, then I'm thinking, thank god that's ended, back to normality now - then the yokel news is full of it as well.

I'm fed up with hearing about the bloody thing already and it's only day one; we could have months of this.

Did you see them talking to the press with all the flash bulbs going off constantly? I mean, how many feckin' photos is enough? 1000, 2000, 50,000? Madness.

How. Dare. You!

This is blatantly the only important thing to have happened in the world today hence why the news just keep reporting it.

Plus it should cheer the nation up, I mean what else could take your mind off of the constant recession (I don't buy a QE influenced recovery) the unemployment and the desolate attitude that seems to be interwoven into the nation's identity these days. Why a wedding between two completely unimportant idiots that's what! How on earth does this make anyone happy, I mean who is going to be paying for the wedding, the taxpayer that's who. I don't care how many pennies tourism brings in to the coffers, the vast majority of money going between the royals and the treasury is not going towards the treasury.

What better way to feel cheerful during these tough times than to watch the super upper class enjoying a massively expensive jolly during times of almost unprecedented austerity, all on the taxpayers pound.

Did anyone notice that The One Show, ITV, Five news, Sky News and BBC News 24 were all showing exactly the save interview at the same time.

Irony overload.

You're sick of hearing about it but you still started a second thread about it here?

I still can't get over the ludicrous national grieving that happened when Diana died. How can people get that emotionally effected by something they aren't even connected to?

But apparently i'm weird and/or a bd for saying that faux mourning is ridiculous.

Are we paying for this wedding?

I wish them well in the same way I would any random couple who i don't know and have no connection to whatsoever.
