I bought a logitech steering wheel and pedals a few years back for GT4 and as soon as I tried them out I hated it. I couldnt keep the car in a straight line as it just kept pulling left then right. Even the steering was awful, im sure the wheel turned 270 degres which felt too far so i put it away and went back to using a pad.
However since I bought f1 2010 I thought I would try the wheel and pedals again and this time is feels superb, much better then a pad. theres no pulling left and right and the wheel only turns 180 degres so cornering is very easy. Then i tried Need For Speed Shift and to my dissapointment it was the same useless steering and the car pulling left and right. Is there anyway to set up the controls for the wheels/pedala as I would like to use these when GT 5 is released
Thanks

Does the wheel you are using have force feedback?

I find that if wheels don't they are impossible to get along with, hence why most wheels have it these days

It could be that you just need to adjust the dead zone a bit in certain games. Is it actually pulling, or is just very hard to stay in a straight line?

Is it the dead zone in the centre of the wheel that causes you the problem? Try increasing it to make the centre less sensitive, I found that helped.

Yes its definatly pulling so I steer the other way and end up zig-zaging everywhere. Is there anyway to choose if you want the wheel to turn 270 or 180 degress
thanks

I wouldn't judge any wheel by what happens on NFS Shift. I have a G25 and have wasted many hours trying to get Shift to feel 'right' and have pretty much given up. Straight out of the box, without altering any settings, it feels great on both GT5:P and F1 2010. If GT5:P is anything to go by your wheel will probably be spot on for GT5.

Re the zig zag comment, sounds more like you need to get used to the feel a bit more, basically your overcompensating on each movement until you stack it on a 180. A bit like steering a boat, as soon as your in the zone even with a wheel pulling to one side (which they shouldn't) you would be able to drive straight.
Either way I would not bet on being faster with a wheel as turning it even just 180 is slower than flipping your finger about a inch on a control pad, its just the realism is increased.
IMO anyway

ive answered my own question here but after abit of research on google i found out that there is a button combo you have to press on the wheel to switch between 200 and 900 degree steering, much better

Mike, have you had a chance to try GT5:P with the wheel? If you can pick up a copy (probably not much point now), or borrow a copy from a mate you will see what I mean about the steering feel. It's night and day to Shift.

+1, shift was awful on my G25, I wonder how they got it so wrong....but GT4 and GT5:P are both much better with the wheel when you get used to it, and the GT5 TT felt great with the wheel. I think in harder games (or in 'simulation' mode) you will appreciate the extra accuracy of both the steering and pedals input over a pad.

Does anyone know if a steering wheel from the USA will work on a UK PS3?

If so i'll wait till I go to America at christmas as they are cheaper.

Can't see why they wouldn't. USB connectors are universal, aren't they?
