I am very interested in getting involved in rallying. Not the actual driving side of things but more the organisation, marshalling etc kind of thing. Does anyone have any recommendations of how to start things rolling?

May get some idea of who to contact here:

www.motorsport.co.uk/

I'm sure web sites for individual events often advertise for people to marshall.
I suppose it must be possible to move on to other rally offical jobs from marshalling?

Talking to marshalls at rallies they are often members of their local motor clubs.

the best way is probably to find your local motor club and join them.

www.msa.org.uk would be the best bet to start with. give them a call, they will tell you your local motor club and go from there.

Marshalling rallying is interesting. I have done it twice, no training whatsoever!

I saw a post on the Ten-Tenths message board saying they were looking for marshalls for a local rally, so I volunteered! So might be worth having a look on other rallying based boards.

If you lived down here, I'd have suggested getting in contact with a locally based rally team and offering to act as chief tea maker / van driver / etc. Never know unless you ask, but my guess is they'd appreciate the help.

FYI - Their website is www.306rwd.co.uk

There's an unfinished section on www.giveitdeath.com that explains some of the basics. I'll get round to finishing it one day ;-) !!
