Expansion Tanks

Appraently its now impossible to get replacement expansion tanks (the were fitted to the Rover SD1), thanks to th eloan of a spare tank I have been able to get a quote for replacement tank made in alloy. While they wont be the exact shape of the original they will have the same capacity, external dimensions and fitting points as the originals so will be a direct replacement.
Unfortunatly they are complex to make and as a result not cheap ay £110 each if I order a batch of 10. Is there any interest?
Its possible that some trade suppliers such as Rimmer Bros might be interested and I intend to ring around monday, hopefully between us we might get to 10, or more

I have been thinking of changing and relocating the expansion tank on my car but as I now have the pressure cap on the swirl pot don't see the need for an expansion tank capable of taking pressure. All that is needed is a container to catch the expansion coolant and then allow it to be siphoned back. For this reason I was thinking of using the Triumph type expansion bottle as in the attached link to Rimmer Bros.

Knowing that the originals are now unobtainable I wanted to be ableto offer a replacement.

There has been a remarkable lack of interest so far, due I guess to the cost. I have found an alternative supplier who will make the tank in brass/copper for about £70. He is in the process of making a sample and I will post photos when available. As to mounting the tank it will mimic the existing tank and so be a direct replacement. Could be fitted to swirl pot but you would have to manufacture bracketsI could be interested. Mine mounts on the bulkhead but Iv'e seen others that mount on the swirl pot, will your replacement accommodate both?

It is not also used on other BL vehicles IIRC.
MG B ? Triumph 2000/2500 ? These are pressed metal often but look so similar. Would need a proper look to confirm fittings and connections are all suitable. They all seem to run 15 psi too.
So if you need to bulk the order up those car clubs/specialist suppliers might be interested.

Or is just because an ally one would look great ? :bling: I'd take one but am spending what seems like the national debt of Greece & Ireland combined on my chassis rebuild at the mo..............

No idea on comparative costs but stainless steel would "match" better if swirl pot and rad hoses already changed?Personnaly don't like the plastic tank or its location, one day would like to get something in stainless but mounted next to or clamped onto the swirl pot, from Tinks comment I guess the V8's are like that ?
This was before the battery went into the boot

Not quite impossible. 
As of this morning, Brown & Gammons had two in stock:
