I have to say this is a waste of money and valuable school time. I am sure the children of Lincolnshire could be taught something more useful like science.

Why a waste of money/time? I doubt they'll lay on any more RE lessons than they already have. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1328080/Sc...
And whilst I'm not religious or particularly spiritual myself, I don't see anything wrong with teaching kids how other people view the world. I quite welcome it, in fact. The only "danger" is, as with a lot of single-faith schools, the possibility of indoctrination to one form of religion.
I have to say as a parent in Lincolnshire I am pleased this now happening. This isn't additional lesson this is just widening the different religions that are taught in RE lessons. When choosing a school for my son I took into consideration how religion was taught and 'enforced' in the schools as I want my son to have an independent choice and full awareness of all the religions if he chooses to follow any religion.
There is a considerable number of Pagans in Lincolnshire (and I believe the head of the Pagan council is also based here). Surely children should have the opportunity to learn about such a large UK based religion?

Neo-paganism is a load of crap that is basically anti-religious and mainly anti-christian... sorta like hippies are anti-corporatism. But teaching neo-paganism as an alternative is stupid, as we don't want to get kids thinking about ANOTHER religion to follow.
If they teach actual paganism then I think it's fine, as it sort of teaches you to respect your environment, and of course it'll be fun for kids because a lot of myths are pagan. But as long as they teach it as something in the past that doesn't really mean much in todays society then its fine. Although I doubt they'll do this so it's best if they just leave it alone.
