MMM, a bit pricey then!
is that £1,000,000 or nearest offer (give or take £999,999), or just a plain million?
Wo decides on the value of these things anyway?

Its all boll&x if you ask me... I was thinking about a differnt plate for the Tiv but anything with any level of recognition is stupidly priced.. normaly more than the car is worth at least..

Also the DVLA a government organisation, must make a massive profit on this little lot.. all the ordinary ****MAT or ***TVR is £1000 upwards and anything they deem interesting they send off to an auction so you can't buy it...

..yes I'm bitter , last year I wanted S11 VER for my Puma, of course "To be sold at Auction"..

Cheers

I bought a **** JRB (for JonRB) numberplate for £250 from DVLA, so I was just about to post 'you're wrong!' when I thought I'd better check the DVLA website, and sure enough, all **** TVR plates are £999 or more. I think that's fairly new, because only a few months ago when I bought mine, I seem to remember that the majority of the plates I looked at, including TVR ones, were all £250.

Have you considered your initials rather than "MAT"?

I think you have to be a B1MBO to buy that, and a rich one at that.

Yes I have though about it.. but then it gets a bit lost on most people as I don't ever own up to my middle name .. I've come up with a few alternatives though.. I think BN0 15Y would be pretty good

I''l keep hunting.. but I'm not spending more than £400
BTW I'm sure there was a TVR plate for sale in sprint recently.. anyone remember ??

Cheers,
Matt

A few years ago I asked about T110MAS (Thomas). I was told that as the numbers weren't 1,2,3...10,20,30....100,200,200,etc. then it's not a cherished number plate so would just get issued somewhere in the country. I've now seen it for sale for £42,000!
Cheers....... Andrew

Dear Oh Dear.. I wasn't expecting this to turn into a "guess the middle name" contest...
2 clues:

1. Could one day get the top job...
2. Enjoys Pen Manufacturers company for lawn game.

Cheers
Matt.

DVLA thieving gits !!! they are penalising people for having older cars... As an example:
S19 LOW £250
G19 LOW £499

And there are no "rarity" arguments here as there is only ever one of each.... Bloody DVLA ....
:very pissed off:
:most displeased:

The demand for the older plate is potentially greater since it could be assigned to many more cars.
You can pick up plates not previously issued for a few hundred quid at auction. I got A4.3 TVR at auction. Although I had to pay quite a lot because I was competing against the person that requested it be issued (sorry if you're a pistonheader).

:head scratching smiley:

hmm. sort of see where you are coming from, but I'm sure there is a counter argument that people are more likely not to use the older plates unless there car is of that age.. and there are more newer cars around than old ones surely... (depending on where you draw the line)

Oh I don't know....

Cheers
Matt.

Yeah, but the counter argument to your counter argument is that an older plate on a newer car makes it stand out even more.

OK so to avoid the counter, counter argument.. is it reasonable for the DVLA to charge TWICE as much for the older plate ??

Is that over or under the counter then?
