The G-Wiz isn't a car it's a Quadricycle (runs for cover)

LIke the best car thread, the worst car ever made is the one that breaks down at the most inappropriate moment, or the one that makes you want to kick it the most is the worst car ever made

Not all bad!

I wouldnt say they were the 'worst car ever'.. they served a purpose across eastern Europe, and on a recent trip I was surprised how many are still running, along with FSOs.

Actually neither of those even approaches the worst car ever made. The G-Whizz was designed to be the cheapest way of getting the denizens of Bombay through vile traffic whilst not adding to the horrendous smog cloud belched out by diesel fired Austin Cambridge knock-offs.

The Lada Riva was designed to be a cheap but reliable car that could be fixed by a one-eyed peasant in the Urals with nowt but a bent penknife and a sledgehammer. It can be.

Neither of the above cars are objectively very good. They don't drive in any way well; possess no performance and are hardly stylish. However they were built to do a job; which is transport the poor, and they fulfill that brief rather nicely. Especially the Riva; which never breaks down if you change the oil every few years. I can't comment on the G-Whizz.

The worst car ever is one that is supposed to do a number of things well but fails miserably. It may well be the Vectra C diesel. It doesn't look good, handle, perform and breaks down all the fecking time. However unlike the above examples it is supposed to do all of those things at least competently.

that's why I said "in my opinion" it doesn't mean that it's true.

Actually I'm going to +3 that; had a rental slow diseasel scenic recently and the thing actually slowed itself down at speed limits if it wasn't down hill. Not only that but it was truly rubbish - funny though!

Early Lancia Beta. Life measured in months before they rusted away in significant areas. Otherwise a good performing car.

Later ones were much better, but by then the damage was done and their reputation was trashed.

Lost Lancia its biggest export so certainly their worst, financially.

Ferrari F40.

Not as nice as the 288 GTO nor as special.
Apparently not as good to drive as the 288 GTO.
Not as well built or well engineered as the Enzo or F-50.
Over 1,300 built when it was supposed to be limited production.
Not a successful racer.
Proper Ferraris shouldnt have turbos (which is what everyone on here cries about when Ferrari talk about going turbo to cut emissions)
No creature comforts (it is a road car not a race car after all)
Has less power than a modern BMW 4x4

And it is the most overhyped car in the whole wide world because it is trendy to like them.

Ferrari F-40 =/= BMW 335d mapped but at least the BMW335d mapped can take you to do your shopping.

Really though, the old Kia Rio was dire.

How do you define "worst" though? The Kenari might be souless white goods but I bet it's reliable and for many people that's the most important aspect in a car. The Riva or the Trabant provided cheap transport for the masses. The Allegro has a terrible rep but handled or rusted no worse than any other car of the era. The Picasso or Scenic (two particular hates of mine) are practical and you can fit your little angel and all their toys in there.
