speedo not working

Hi everyone, my speedo is not working, I had a look underneath at the gear box and found two female bullet connectors hanging free and a stray coaxal type cable that goes from the bulk head to the gear box area but isnt connected any ideas

Hi, The coaxial is the speedo cable. If its the same as my S1, there should be a circlip which keeps it in the gearbox. Whe I came to undo mine the cirlip had come undone but thye cable was still in. this may well be what's happened to yours! New circlip only, will need to take the exhaust off and get some circlip pliers with a 90 degree head to get it in (without lifting the body). Picture shows where it goes in, but this is with the body raised. the connectors are probably the reversing light, so check and see if this is working.

anyone know where i can get the circlip? having trouble.

We have one of those "selection box's" of circlips somewhere at work, if you can measure the diameter I'll see if we have anything to match ?

thanks mike, have been told there is some kind of retainer as well, need to get organised and get the exhaust off (again) at least my reverse lights work now, thaks for all contributions
