WII Consoles

Hello,

I am in charge of getting the family a WII console for christmas.

We have an old PS2 console so know its not compaitable.

Question time.

Which is the best bundle to go for ?
How many controlers do they normaly come with ?
I assume that games that have up to 4 players each has to have their own controller ?
The bundles I have seen all have WII Sports or WII Sports resorths whihc is best ?

WII sports resort is better but you need the motion plus for each controller. Whilst the bundle can be cheap they normally don't come with more than one controller (controller and motion plus cost around £40-£50 in total) so you'll need to cost in that as well. Limited edition red has just been released but you won't be able to get matching controllers at a reasonable price yet.

Usually they come with one controller, a bundle pack can be got with Wii Play which is a whole bunch of games to help the smaller members of the family learn how to use the controller, and it comes with a free one.

If you are playing family type games it usually just prompts you to had over a remote if you don't have enough to go round.

Don't forget the nunchuck for another ~£15 on top.

At £60 per extra player, 4 player on the Wii gets expensive.

I've been lumbered like the OP.
Currently looking at this:

But in all honesty I haven't a clue what I'm doing. We DO want Mario Kart and a wheel, so this looked a good start. What other bits do I need? If I get another wheel can we race each other?

You don't even need the wheel, provided you've got 2 remotes you can play each other. The wheel is nothing more than a glorified bit of plastic that the controller slots into. A paper plate and some sellotape will achieve the same aim if you don't want to fork out for a second wheel, although just turning the remote on its side will work just fine too.

I got on better without the wheel but the mrs prefers it. Relative bought a sword thingy for Pirates game but I think that is more "having fun" than useful. I think that everything the remote slots in is to give experience. eg. the wheel. Driving game so it must be a wheel, the settings allow for either and I find I am better without especially important when a 10 year old is beating you, you need all the help you can get. You vcan get golf clubs and light sabres and all sorts but at the end of the day its the remote that does the work, and you could make your own swords and stuff.

Console, Sports Resort, one controller with nunchuck and Wii Motion Plus seems to be the deal that is abot. John Lewis had them for £150 white only, but everywhere seems to have Black sets for £160. (Also, try Amazon.) This would be enough for a bit of Christmas Day fun, most of the games can have the remotes passed around.

Balance Boards seem to be around the £70 mark, with Wii Fit Plus software included. Goldeneye 007 has just been released too, there is another thread running about this.
