Anyone watch this the other night? Pretty good and some new information for a change.

I wanted to but for some reason they scheduled it alongside their best running comedy of the moment; The Apprentice. Hoping it's going to be repeated.

I watched it on iPlayer last night. You should be able to catch it on the red button on your TV or on a computer.

They've certainly returned to something like their old form. A couple of years ago I had given up on it completely as the programmes were all to do with catastrophe and anhiallation - over sensationalist in other words. There was a bit of that last night but the "doomsday - we're all gonna die" scenarios were kept in check and overall it was well put together.

Yup watched last night - really interesting.

It got me thinking about an old NASA/Berkely? professor who used to appear regularly on the programme back in the 80's and what a fountain of knowledge he was.

Anyone rememebr him - quite a jovial chap, always smiling.

Ah Eric you're right, that's him - He sadly passed away a good few years ago. He was always great to watch/listen to on Horizon - put things into an easy to understand perspective for the layman.

Nice work!

Very sadly, he was killed in a road accident in Australia in 1997. He had applied to be a geologist astronaut in the 1960s but was turned down. Instead, he became one of the geology instructors to the Apollo moonwalkers.

A nice end to the story is that some of his ashes were put aboard the US moon probe, Lunar Prospector, which eventually impacted the lunar surface when its mission was over. So, he finally got to the moon.

He was also the co-discoverer of the comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, which famously smashed into Jupiter in 1994.
