I was reading an article in the Metro newspaper where they interviewed a pensioner who said "he cycled 48k every day".

s! I bet he said he cycled 30 miles. Even a bloke as young as Eric or myself would never quote kilometers, so no chance of an OAP saying it.
I don't know what their agenda is, but that particular paper is definitely trying to convert us to the Metric system.
