Is this Chim a bargain ?

I'm not interested as the S will be back from its chassis rebuild this month, allegedly but I thought it might be of interest to others.

It says it seems to start & drive OK and have an MOT and no obvious damage, so what is a breaker doing with it ? Finance claw back ?

Also seems to have PH sticker maybe on offside rump, so if it is yours and it pains you to see it being sold on sorry.

Does look a bargain though.

Going by the other adverts they have, that is normally where the *DAMAGED* goes so it may mean they don't have a record of damage, or can't tell?

Well that's reassuring!

Being a trader the guy will know exactly what he was doing when he priced it at that level. I guess it's just a question of whether the reason is something you're willing to take on or not.

As mentioned above 'unrecorded' refers to having no damage officially logged on the insurance register (i.e. it's not a Cat D/C). However, this doesn't mean it isn't currently or hasn't in the past been damaged in some way, it might just not be subject to an insurance claim.

Or, it might just be a somewhat tatty, but fundamentally straight high-miler that they took in part-ex and need to get rid of... You never know.

Douglas Valley Breakers have loads of experience dealing with sales of second hand / damaged TVR's.

With this in mind they will know what they are doing with this particular motor in terms of price advertised and price they believe it will actually sell for.

I would suggest that if they have put it up for 4,995 quid then IMO thats probably what its worth (at best) and they will take a punt and see if they can get someone to pay a little bit more for it.

Either way I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Unrecorded means it's not on the MIB database as either stolen or any level of damage

I bought this car and every credit to the previous owner for the way it has been looked after. I bought it knowing it had a very bad oil leak and the exhaust was blowing at the manifolds. One oil switch £14.00, remove sump and refit, £20.00 welding the chassis under the manifold on the o/s, an oil and filter change, and every thing else sorted to get it on the road £285.00. I have since had fitted new engine mounts as they were sagging and the heat shields I made for the chassis meant the exhaust manifolds were knocking on tickover. Total spent £370.00.
On the road and I love it.
The TVR family is brilliant and from one owner I have received a Chimaera print with my name on the number plate.
Thanks again to the previous owner for the way this Chim has been looked after over the years.

It's had a rebuild at TVR Power although no mention of how long ago.

It had a rebuild at Power at 70,000 miles. If it needed another at any point I am in the right place to get that done a lot cheaper than it was in 2003.

Well done Malcolm.... welcome to the TVR Owner World...rather than those that make and fix 'em... You should have been out on Sunday for a run with us . The next stage as an owner is .... using it .... enjoy

Welcome to the fold! Early christmas for you! Looks quite a bargain.
Hopefully your winter won´t be as hard and long as ours and you´ll be able to drive it a lot. We allready got 8 inches of the white stuff.
