Building a 1:1 Replica of Titanic

I remember hearing years ago that the Japanese were going to build an exact replica of the ill-fated ship and use it as a hotel/restaurant.

I know it's kind of sick, but I am fascinated by the whole thing and would visit it just to see what it was all like.

Do you think this is feesible? Can it be done? Watching the Project:Titanic thing on telly recently has renewed my thinking on this.

If they managed to build it all those years ago I'm pretty sure they could build a replica of it. Pretty expensive and elaborate idea for a restaurant though.

All it needs is money. If they can build Taipei #1 or whatever it's called, they can build an Edwardian ship. And the Japs have a track record of copying our designs - until about 1900 they bought ships from us; then they wised up and copied them. Weird to think that in those days we were best buddies; training their officers etc.

Yes money would be the stumbling block I would think. They could charge a lot of money for the experience though I'm sure.

Sarel Gous even announced he had acquired full plans for the Titanic from Harland & Wolff, plans which anyone can get as they are Harland & Wolff's top sellers. Plans which would be useless as they would need to be completely redrawn to contain all modern SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements.

We should have saved the Olympic when Cunard sold it for scrapping in 1935.

The Brittannic (Olympic/Titanic sister ship) is divable (by the elite) in Greece, its 90mtrs to the top of the wreck and 120mtrs to the seabed, so a serious dive.
