Hi, just a quick question;

I cooked some mince beef a week ago in some chilli from frozen and refroze what was left in two bags. Like an idiot the two bags have frozen together making it impossible to separate them without cutting through them.

Is it safe to defrost them both in the fridge then refreeze one of the bags?

What about cutting the bag and just re-bagging the other and sticking it back in the freezer? To be honest, I doubt you would die from it but if it were me, it would play on my mind and I perhaps would not enjoy eating it so much.

Would a quick splash of boiling water over the joined bit help to separate without defrosting the whole lot?

You can defrost and refreeze as many times as you want, within reason, as it's the time thawed out in between when bacteria can multiply that is the issue.

Cant believe I didn't think of that!

Did it this morning and it all went swimmingly.

Just need to sort my chips and cheese to go with my insanely hot chilli!

Thanks for the help everyone.
