Polite request re out sourced picture hosting

I am getting more and more pics unavailable to view on the great threads on here. I just looked through the lens help guide, which is a fantastic idea, but quite a number of pics are unavailable. A high proportion is Flikkr.
Please can I ask, if you are to use outside hosting, you keep the images available and permissions correct so the images remain viewable.

I suspect quite a few of those you can't see are from 4hero who has recently pulled all his flickr photo's.

It could also be people on Flickr without a Pro account, the number of photos are limited so once up to that the older ones drop off.

The files and links remain intact though don't they? I thought it was just the photostream etc. that is, erm... cropped if you'll pardon the pun!

Every so often I'll have a cull of the images I have hosted on my site. The reason for that is that occasionally they were posted for a single specific reason, which has long since passed. Others get pulled because I look at them now and no longer hold them in the same regard I did when I posted them.

The other reason is because it all becomes a bit unwieldy if I don't thin them out every so often.

I too was the same and then I came up with an format which means I can dump it and forget about it.


They're all under the images folder but within that there's the year, then the collection.

e.g.
/images/2009/Duxford/
/images/2009/London2Brighton/
/images/2010/Ph/
/images/2010/cobra/
/images/2010/oddballstuff/

etc..

Means it's nice and easy to find what I'm looking for.
