Elements 8, Canon 4600 Windows settings

Does any on use a windows machine, using photoshop elements 8 or there abouts, and print using a Canon 4600 printer?
If so, do you get good printing results?
If so, can you tell me the settings you use please.
I can print using infraview and am happy with the results. I can't, what ever I do, get photoshop to print the same colours as I see.

It's all to do with making sure all of the colour profiles match between PS, Windows and the printer. All with have different colour profiles so you need to set them up to be all the same.

Or invest in something like a calibration device (Colour Monkey are OK).

I have set ( or at least thought I had ) everything the same, ie adobe RGB, and tried everything I can think of and no luck. It seems only a Photoshop problem.

I'm not a profiling guru but your output should be sRGB for printing.

I am learning also, but from what was being said, if they all are the same, what difference does it make? I don't understand, hence the question, but was hoping someone would have the same set up working well, and just spoon feed me their settings to work with!

Another way I could try to determine the correct colours would be to give a pro a file to print to compare.
Anyone recommend a pro printer for a one off TRUE colour printer, printing the image exactly as should be?

Assuming the printer inks are OK in all respects it will be printing 'exactly as it should be' for the settings you are using - though you may need to make some allowance if you are comparing screen with paper since they will always look different to some extent.

In may experience the Canon printer drivers need some care in setup to understand the results - powerful but not for the faint hearted. I don't use PS but I tend to create a jpg from my editor application and then print it with the Canon Easy print software. That seems to offer a good enough result for most things though I'm not sure how satisfying it would be if you are heading for 'fine art' standards.

Part of the reason for doing that is that my editor and the Canon Printer driver do not work at all well together for some reason. Whilst the output quality is excellent it's ability to understand paper sizes and orientation and image sizes is negligible and only suceeds sometimes entirely by chance as far as I can tell. Easy Print just works as it should.

What setings are you using for the printer setup via the Canon printer driver?
