Do I need the 320gb ps3?

I need a new PS3 as mine is slowly dieing, I've been hankering after the new slimline 320gb ps3 but do I really need it?

I hardly ever download anything and use the PS3 for gaming, DVDs and the occasional hour or so surfing the net.

So would the basic ps3 suit my needs better rather than forking out extra for the "better" unit?

The 120GB one sounds like it'll be fine. The extra space is only really of use if you're copying lots of stuff to the unit or using something like the EyeTV which records TV programmes to the HD.

It just freezes and then turns itself off. Normally happens just as I get into a game. This happens 2 or 3 times and then works fine.

Have to go through this process every time I start it up. Hence the slowly dieing comment.

Now 320gb or the cheaper version? I want a ps3 just not sure if I'll fully benefit from the higher capacity one if I hardly download anything?

But you can also store music and pictures on it?

Personally I'd get the 320 but that's just because I like to know that if I wanted to start downloading stuff to the PS3 I could (I like to download demos of games etc and of course sometimes I download the add-ons for games like Fallout)...

IMO 250gb should be plenty.

Get the 250. The 250 plus a 500Gb hdd(e.g. from scan) works out about the same price as a 320.

Compressed air wouldn't hurt, a Hoover with all the build-up of static that generates just might though...

Get the 250, the 320 sounds complete overkill for your needs.

Well considering the 120gb is £220 and the 360gb is only £250 why question it?

Yeah, I didn't realise they were so close in price. Although the cheasest I've seen the 320gb for is £270
