One thing is very important in as the UK's biggest supermarket - make sure you have an alcohol license
Otherwise the police will have you, regardless of how big a business you are

Also shows you how Tesco can still get their licence issued within hours - imagine how long it would take for your average publican or shopkeeper!Otherwise the police will have you, regardless of how big a business you are

It really does seem like a misuse of resources in these times of cutbacks
I can see where P of D is coming from the council bullyboys probably p*ssed they didn't get the admin fee, bit like how the planning depts get, Have to keep the fee's racking up to top up the pensions
The whole civil/criminal law needs a coat of looking at.

"Due to the extended hours at the store and their new licence a meeting has been arranged with staff at the store, the local policing team and licensing officers to ensure that it has no adverse effects on the local community."
Now THAT is an over-reaction. Store has no licence.
Store is stopped from selling alcohol until licence is procured.
Store starts selling alcohol again.
Why the f
k is it necessary to have a "meeting with the store staff, policing team and licensing officers"? Did they get a disability awareness councilor, a five-a-day healthy eating officer and a sexuality awareness mentor in there as well? What sort of 'adverse effects' does the local community think it may have suffered? Oli.
