Turtle Beach headsets

Just looking for a bit of advice.
Saw the Turtle Beach XLC headset on offer in a store (can't say the name on PH as I will be ridiculed for entering it).
They were selling for £12 but were out of stock. Has anyone owned one of these because I've read mixed reviews?

Have also looked at the X11 and PX21, are these worth the extra money?

Having spoken to a few of the guys online, they are saying the expensive ones are superb when playing games like COD as you can hear the direction of footsteps etc. Which site are these on?? I'm also considering another option, using my surround sound

If you play online a lot don't get the xlc's as the audio and speech come through te same feed.

I think the next ones up are the x1's, get them as you can fade up and down speech and audio separately.

The xlc's are good for playing offline, the sound quality is great.

I've just got a pair of Sharkoon Xtatic headphones that are full 5.1 jobs. They work with the Mic over xbox live too. Not cheap though.

The PX21 seems to be the next one up which offers cross compatibility with the PS3 (which I don't have) and adjustable bass. Not sure if its worth the extra £20 for adjustable bass though.

I've got the X41's. Do the same job. They are very good but the 'surround effect' in the cans takes a bit of getting used to. It's obviously not as good as my actual surround system, so I tend to use the cans only when the wifey insits!

Just read some more reviews and quite a few people seem to say that they can hear hissing (or white noise) coming through when playing with the X11's.

I have the X11s, brilliant bit of kit for the money. Yeah you can hear the hissing when you've not got any noise through the headphones but its not an issue once you're in the game. Will stop you being sneaked up on during games.

Not the greatest for music, but good for TV watching and Gaming

I have the older x4s, best freebie ever! They eat through batteries though so it's worth buying some decent rechargeables if you go for a wireless option!

I've got the XLC's and yes, although the Sound Quality is excellent it is often hard to hear people over the sound of the game even after tweaking your ingame settings...

Pay the extra and you'll be chuffed no doubt.

Gave it a good test last night, must have been on for over 3 hours and wasn't uncomfortable or too hot like some closed ear headphones can be.

I was worried that the feedback of your own voice feature would be a bit annoying but was pleasantly surprised. The feedback is instant and stops you from shouting over the noise of the game.

The best bit though is when playing a game I can't hear anything my mrs is saying

Bought X31's the other day, wireless ones (Although wired when talking, 1 small wire from ear to controller) brother used to have X11's which apparently have very small ear pads which won't cover your ears... but now has X21's which are the best size ones.

I would say either

Wired : X21
Wireless : X31
