Cheers guys, it's great to hear from you.
I'm off to look at a Cerbera tomorrow (Sunday), don't panic I'm not gonna part with cash straight away as I have a list of cars I want to look at and this is the only the first. But I can't help thinking that I'm standing on the edge of a high cliff! Is this really the right thing to do?
This will be my first venture into TVR ownership, but I am a technically minded person and I am know full well that taking custody of a Cerbera is by no means a case of 'care free' motoring, but I have to ask myself, is it a step too far?
You see my problem is that for me I grew up during the Wheeler generation, and since then the Cerbera has been the holy grail in my eyes. My brain says buy a Rover lumped car, but my heart says something else. A Griffith is too early, and the Chimera never really caught my attention in the way the Cerbera did. Tuscans, and all subsequant models are still out of reach for me.
A chance to speak to you guys who have ownership experience would be worth its weight in gold to me.

I think you should follow your heart. The danger of not means that you will never feel quite satisfied and at some point, you'll just have to go and buy the car you really want.
All cars have the potential to be troublesome and cost money.
I have had TVR's for a long time. My current fleet (excessive I know!) is a Chimaera (11 years from new) and two Cerberas - one of them for four and a half years. I recently acquired another one which I'm giving some TLC.
Of course there is always an element of luck with these things - but if you get yourself a good one in the first place, then stay on top on the things which need doing, I'm sure you'll find it a rewarding partnership!
There are a number of Cerberas who take off into Europe and then hurl themselves round Spa, before blatting home - they love it! The more you use them, the better they are.

(as a marker - not for sale), then my black Cerbera will be up on ramps in Bedford (waxoyling), you would be welcome to come and have a chat.

Cerbera is a great choice. A few things though in your post that I would comment on:-Griffith started earlier than Chims and Cerbs but carried on for nearly as long.
Tuscans start at pretty much the same prices as good Cerberas.
If you are looking at the cheapest of Cerbs (or any cerb tbh) make sure you can afford to run one. Cerbs are the most expensive TVR to run and will need plent of work and cash. £1k - £5K pa is the avg range I would guess. I am running at over twice that upper end, a few are at the lower end, most somewhere in the middle I would guess. Doing work yourself can reduce the cost but the good indies really know the niggles and know how to fix and diagnose them.

Viewing the car today was a great in that it brought me back down to earth in terms of all the things to consider, but then in a flash (well two actually: 1st when I walked round the corner and first saw it, and 2nd when it/she thundered into life) I was on cloud 9. I think this head Vs heart thing is going to kill me one way or another.
Anyway, I'd love to take this a bit further and talk to you guys based on what I've seen today. Amazon and Zippie, I'd like to take up both of your offers to share knowledge and/or point at stuff on cars.
Zippie: I drive past St Neots every day on the A1 en route to the office.
Amazon: I think from your description you are very close by.
