Split personality exhaust - can it be done?

Ok maybe a wierd title, but is it possible to make an exhaust that has two modes?
I'm thinking normal window shattering TVR mode - or quieter for longer runs?
Mine sounds great at full chat but there are times when I just wish I could quieten it down a bit - I know - I'll have a word with myself later.

I did see an exhaust valve somewhere I think where there was a lever to divert it one way or another - maybe 2 pipes through the centre exhaust box each with different characteristics?

Mitsubishi 3000 gto had this feature in the 90's, although to be honest it didn't get used much. Most motorcycles also used a similar system to improve torque.

What you need is This Through a silencer when 'normal' driving, completely unrestricted when 'having fun'!

The ECV makes sense although not heard it in action; the other thing makes me wonder about gas flow if you're creating a dead end in a Y section half way along the pipe, given that the valve is not right at the main pipe but further down the secondary exhaust pipe. I think "screamer" pipes are designed differently to improve gas flow.

The electrical valve looks interesting - I guess you don't have to take their pipe anyway you could fabricate your own.
Amazingly I've been thinking about this for ages and there's also a thread on TVRCC on General Discussion about this very topic that was started yesterday!

moosehunter on here did something like this a few years ago on his griff, I believe the valve came from the states.
