Fuel Rail Sensor

I seem to be missing a sensor in the fuel rail. Car runs ok so never bothered but I suppose I should sort it. Anybody know what it is and where to get one?

There was no sensor fitted to my car when I bought it, so I tried to obtain a replacement through the Ford dealer network and found that it's obsolete. I also had a go with the 'discontinued parts' specialists but no luck there either. Eventually I managed to source one through a breaker but had to buy the fuel rail & pressure regulator as well. I'm still not sure to this day what difference, if any, it's made to the running of the car so I'd be tempted not to worry about it too much if your engine seems to be running alright.

I believe its a fuel temperature sensor.

when I changed from the grotty pressed steel fuel rail to the nice alluminium one it wouldn't fit because it fouled the pressure regulator so I made a little adaptor that lifted it up a bit.The engine I took the alloy fuel rail from didn't have one fitted and looking at Normans photo's below the one from my steel fuel rail must be a bigger diameter ?

Anyway, when I asked the guy at Austec about it he said that if the wiring is there it should be connected, even if lifted higher and probably not sensing correct temperature, or the ECU will be "looking for it" ?

If there's a part number on that sensor norman stick it in google then we might at least know what it does....

Well 'eres the little bugger fed by a brown and a brown/yellow no markings at all and its shown as fuel rail temperature switch, its shown in Mr Haynes manual as Fuel Temperature Sensor
