Well the shiny new ones have been sitting on my garage shelf for some months now and I had a rush of blood to the head this morning (helped by the bright sunlight as I have to work on the car on the drive) and decided to get stuck in.

Car up on axle stands, wheels off and I viewed the job wondering if I could 'unthread' the ARB with the existing drop links through the chassis and I thought I could.

This is what the existing ARB etc looked like

Disconnected the old drop link from the lower wishbone, bit of a bugger of a job but possible because there is a flat on the lower connection thingy so they can be unbolted, see below for an example.

After grunting a lot (and using a 2 foot long socket wrench) undid the ARB brackets and unthreaded the whole lot with drop links still connected but folded up.

And fitted the replacement ARB complete with new polybushes.

You will seee the end has been threaded M12 after being reduced in diameter

This is the new Drop Link

The top rose joint is M12 and left hand thread, the bottom M10 and right hand thread so it works like a turnbuckle

Fitted the top end with a washer and a nyloc nut (no pieces of heater hose and a split pin for me)

Bottom end is fitted on a M10 bolt high tensile BZP which is fastened to the lower wishbone with a nyloc, the position of the rose joint is fixed with a lock (half) nut and a nyloc

What would I do if I were to do it again. Well I would be tempted to use a 1/2" rose joint at the top and located by using heater hose washer and split pin thus avoiding having to modify the ARB (this was quite easy for me as I had a spare from the S3 I broke). This would also cut down the time for the job considerably. Otherwise nothing.

If there are enough interested I can get further drop links made up but would suggest the 1/2" approach, let me know.
