AFAIK only by bolting an S3 body onto a shortened Cerb chassis - now being run by Tim Davis in the TVR European Challenge. biggrin

They go into the Chimaera/Griffith,, so it must be possible. Plus the Tuscan Race cars are based on the S. A great engine! Incredibly light for a V8.

The chassis of a V8s and S4 are different because they need more space for the V8 (somebody told me). And maybe you need a V8 bonnet. And a GM V8? Ask Steve Heath.

not sure if a v8s chassis would be up to coping with up to 450 bhp, a v6 s definately not, I`m pretty sure the race car version was only an s body on a shortened cerb chassis.

Pretty sure you're right. Derek brought it to SCH at Newark, I'm sure someone will have pictures.

Hmmm, I saw it at Ettington Chase, it`s dark blue and caused a lot of interest. I remember it at Newark too as it was entered into the noisy comp`, I think Derek mentioned it had a Saab exhaust laugh

I think the rear trailing arm on the V6/V8S has limitations has to how much power it can handle. Definetly not the power from an AJPV8, unless you started to do some very serious mods!

The S3RBERA was built as a race car.

250 bhp was the quoted limit for the V6 trailing arm mounts.

I'd have thought you'd need to modify the chassis to be up to Cerbera standard to cope with the power which would be a lot of work. I think I'd just buy a Cerb!

I think the cost of a good AJP engine would knock it on the head, and maybe also insurance.

I`d me gob smacked if anyone has done a full stess analysis on an S chassis to determine the maximum loads which could be applied. I would agee that at some point some compenets wold have to be reinforced, aswell as spring rates and damping.
My car has a dyno`d 240hp and does not show any signs of being over stressed, despite numerous trackdays over the last 4 years witht he current engine.
I also thought that one contributor had supercharged a V8 and had 390hp or so on the dyno?...would be a far more cost effective solution.
I will agree however that these cars are not suitable for anything other than drag racing with bigger power outputs, unless you are willing to spend a lot of time and money developing the suspension etc to cope properly.

Not sure about others but I was referring more to the suspension, I know the semi trailing arm isn't going to be as suitable for that kind of power as the rear end of the Cerb. I'm not sure about stress testing and I don't know anywhere enough about the engineering involved in the chassis but I think from memory the chassis in the Cerb had more strengthening compared to the S, I'm sure the S chassis wouldn't fall apart with the power but I'd be happier knowing it was over engineered than under.
