Unable to search the forums at the moment so:
Can anybody recommend a supplier of car switch-gear? I want to add a small, simple switch to the steering column surround for overriding the fans. I know everybody else just uses the dash lighting switch, but I like being able to kill the internal lights sometimes at night. Had a go at using a "spare" heater control but ended up with a voltage across the resulting pair of wires.
I have a pair of wires across the otter switch now, through the firewall to behind the dash, I just need a brushed aluminium, compact (in order to avoid knee-capping myself) switch with a simple on-off function.

If you have gone to the trouble of running a pair of wires to the otter switch,then you have gone to far.
Behind the dash, the feed to the otter switch can be found , so you could have just spliced into that and found an earth under the steering column.
As for the switch, how about another button to match the dash lights one, and placed next to it?

That was my original plan - far nicer than having more wires draped across the engine. Thought about that, but I would need to create a hole for it. The dash light switch sits in a recess in the "leather". Well, to be accurate, it dangles from the recess having worked itself lose again.phillpot said:
