Hello all,
I think I have a mouse in my car,
I know there has definatly been a mouse in there, as I can see mouse droppings on the carpets.
I don't have any damage that I can see,
The mouse has chewed some sweets that were in the glove box.

I have took any food out of the car.
I am going to take it to be valeted inside later this morning.

How am I best going to eradicate it, if it is still in there?

Is it essential that if he is poisened, that I find the body and remove it?

Thanks

Put a cat in the car for a few minutes - it shouldnt take long for it to find the mouse.

Get a humane mouse trap (made of solid plastic). Put mouse poison in there to encourage it in. That way it'll die somewhere you can find it, and will not rot and/or ooze mouse fluids, somewhere where you cant find it.

You'll also need a dog for if the cat gets lost.

google diy box/bucket trap. I used this method to catch a mouse in our house.
have a path leading up to the top of the box and attach a weak strip of paper/cardboard to it, with bait on the end of the strip. it should be strong enough that it can say horizontal with the bait on it. but weak enough so that the mouse will fall into the bucket/box. if the box is tall enough, the mouse wont be ableto climb/jump out. Another method is to stretch out a coat hanger, and skewer a fizzy drinks can in the middle with bait on it(better if its slightly to one side, or under it), so that when the mouse goes on it, it rolls and they fall into the box.

and easy thing to use is peanut butter. mice love it. I set up my trap and sat perfectly still watching it from 2metres away, and the mouse was after it in minutes.

OP - This is/will be a nightmare.

I had the same with my MX-5, concrete garage, steel doors, nothing edible inside, the little bds got into the boot somehow and ate some plastic and a rug, shredded everything, crapped everywhere, and then vanished. Big clean up job. I have no idea how they got in, or why they eventually left.

Good luck, you'll need it.

Damn i overlooked that.

I suppose cheese is also a 'no go' due to possible dairy intolerance?

And for gods sake do it sooner rather than later. I know of a C-Max that had the loom chewed behind the dash, it cost an arm and a leg to fix!

Thanks every one for all the answers, even the funny ones smile

I took the car for a full 'top to toe' valet today, #It looks beter than new.

A quick trip to the local petshop, and I got 2 wooden old fashioned mouse traps.
The peanut butter is a great idea, I have some of that also.

So I will set the 2 traps, with a little peanut butter now, and I hope by in the morning, I can find a dead mouse.

How did a mouse open the glovebox, eat the sweets then close it again?
