Just so i can get some fresh ideas for my "life plan" house build. One day I'm going to build my own house. In this house will be all manner of things; things that make sense, make me happy, are (dare i say it!) eco friendly and sustainable. For example (In no particular order)......

Ground source heat pump.
Inbuilt media system.
Cellar.
x4/x6/x8 space garage (depends on pennys) with pitched roof loft conversion for Mrs Wizards creative stuff
Underfloor heating.
Rain water conversion for toilets
Solar panels and wind turbine (out of view only though)
5 bedrooms (3 double 2 single)
Outside dog kennel (probably underground too)
Roof garden.
House built using a oak frame, probably half brick....

I think you get the idea. Now i don't want all these eco products for tree hugging credetials but because they appeal to me as being the sensible option.

What other ideas seem sound, and what can i look forward to in the ways of innovation in the next 10 years?

Whats your ideal property.

Oh this is a kent pegged building or thatched in sussex or south kent with about 2 acres of land...... (i know i must be dreaming!!!)

All the services in conduits so you don't have to rip up bloody floors everytime you need to change wiring or plumbing.

And concrete based wetrooms that never leak.

These are the things I dream of!

Marbleplaster- ancient but somehow very modern, doesn't attract dust.

Lots of glass- i like the light

Led lights- much nicer colour spectrum imo, no heat, cost pennies to run.

Any tiles to be a subtle stone- again ancient but modern and will never ever go out of fasion if you choose right.

Ufh throughout.

plant/lawn irrigation through mainly rainwater collection- keeps things looking good and is one for the warriors to wk about.

I would love to have a floating staircase with the stairs apparantly not supported, they look so cool, however they look like an accident waiting to happen especially with kids/pets and are more money than i could afford now or ever biglaugh

Block and beam flooring throughout.

Blockwork partitions, none of the timber stud nonsense.

If it's the perfect house, it needs to feel solid!

With walls finished with render then plaster. None of this dot and dab malaky!

ETA- A nice big plant room with the boiler, cylinder and all other heating gubbins in one place.

Unobtrusive Sound proofing throughout the house, so that the boys could be watching a loud action movie in the basement cinema room, and not disturbing the kids upstairs.
