Chimaera: faired-in headlights
Discussion
Its around late 2000 I think but its difficult to say exactly because of when cars were registered, its quite an easy conversion without the need to paint external areas just the actual new headlamp pods, we do the conversion or you can buy the parts from Fibreon.

I have a facelift 2 ( faired in lights ), I think only about 90 were made, all are 450 models, they were fitted with cerbie seats and had alloy switch gear as standard. Mine was first registered in May 2001 ( Y reg ) I have seen a W reg one and some 51 / 02 and even 52 reg.One guy in our region has a 51 reg 450 chim that is not a facelift model, he is at the moment fairing in the headlights. You remove the surround headlight and the lens fitts over, I think you need some filler and a bit of paint as the pods were bolted in.

Ian at Sportmotive did mine. Whilst it sounds a simple job and there is no external painting, the pods do need to be prepared and painted to match the car colour, and everything fits from inside the wheel arch with support brackets needed. You do need to cut away fiberglass from the original aperture, so if of a nervous disposition, and precious about your car, I'd suggest careful consideration before going down the DIY route - although several have.
