Hi,

I'm getting massively ahead of myself here, but I just wondered if I could find out:

Are the noise limits high enough to allow most averagely silenced Roevr V8 car to compete?

Do many owners drive to and from the events?

I can't help much regarding Rover engined cars, but I run my Cerbera with a standard back box and decats and have not had a problem with noise tests though some with non standard exhausts have.

There are always a good number of Rover engined cars at sprints and I don't recall seeing anyone with extra silencing. A noisy sports exhaust is probably not going to do the trick though.

I would guestimate that about 2/3rds of the sprinters drive to and from events rather than trailering.

You never know...

I nearly did before. Then I sold my Tiv for something more track focused.

Then my opportunities to go on track dried up and I discovered it didn't feel as special on the public road as the TVR. Now I might be heading back.

IIRC, no RV8 cars have ever failed noise testing at Speed Championship events. AFAIK, most people have standard or standard-ish exhaust systems. The Cerberas struggle, though.

Like Pete said, the vast majority do. I trailer in case of accident/breakdown and also so I get a nice comfy air-conditioned drive home at the end of the day when I'm shattered and somewhere to shelter from the appalling weather other than sitting in the TVR all day...

Get some numbers on it! It really is the best way to waste your time!!
