Mk2 RS after 3 years?
Discussion
How much do you guys think a Mk2 Focus will be worth after 3 years, say 30k miles in mint condition? Forget what the guides say because cars that people lust after always hold their value; I mean I sold my 10 year old DC2 Integra last year for over £9k [yep I said DC2 not DC5] and although the RS isn't as rare as my Teg or the Mk1 RS, they are not exactly everywhere! So what do you reckon?

It's a new car so will likely drop and there isn't a shortage of them. The DC2 is quite surprising, this time last year there were plenty around £3.5-4.5k for sale. The RS will need time to mature too before its value stabilises.
I'm hoping prices do drop a fair rate as it's certainly a car I'd like to own in the future; I just love the drama of the whole thing, it's pretty damn bonkers! I see some are around the 20k mark at the moment but have 20k+ miles for a year old car - £15k in a couple of years will be spot on though, which will just under 50% price drop [maybe to much?].
My belief is unmodified good examples will be hard to find, I also think having 305bhp on tap with 385bhp easily/cheapily available, alot of these are going to end up in a hedge therefore they will only get rarer - especially as production has been stopped for some time.
I love mine dearly, the looks are so purposeful and the cornering & grip levels are astounding for a FWD car.

how the fk did you sell your dc2 for 9k?
Had you owned it from new and only driven 3k miles or something?
Well mate, it was a very special DC2 - phoenix yellow, with matching yellow Recaros [1 of only 3 in the country at the time], just over 40k miles on the clock and some very tasty mods; like £1k+ worth of Spoon front calipers It was certainly a case of supply and demand, the buyer wanted it bad!!!Had you owned it from new and only driven 3k miles or something?

I think a Mk2 RS would be a fitting replacement, even though at the mo I'm enjoying the RWD of my BM!

15k at least!Edited by homerjay on Tuesday 12th October 13:01
I got 11k payoutearlier this year when my 53 plate S3 was written off. Second owner, 60k miles Gibraltar import, only cost £17k new and 11k after near 7 years...!
Being a late car, with a demand, meant it held it's value well.
However, I just cannot see a Mk2 RS doing anywhere near the same. Many bought and put away as investments. Rs500 model too, update due next year..? If it is 50% over 3 years, thats pretty much stok for anything nowadays. But realistically, I think cars like this may wear a little worse than say in the last 3 years. Recession going to bite soon, fuel prices up, car tax up, inflation at record levels, lots of crime, people will worry about it getting nicked..?
Certainly I dont think it will do as well as the Mk1 RS, prcie wise.
Still, it will be useful to have it in the forecast harsh winter, what with it being 4wd and all...........!
