Thanks for your comments, but I am a little confussed!....

Did you come on the last run? I don't see your name on the list!

For both runs so far I gave a briefing before we set off addressing standard of driving and safety.... Furthermore, I asked for anyone who observed unsafe/irresponsible driving to let me know - I had no such comments even though I asked at the comfort break and again at the end of the run.

I am very safety concious and have been organising drive & ride outs for years. I do not wish to attract reckless individuals hence why I stress safety in the post... I reinforce it during the thread, and again in the morning before setting off....

There is no posting of this comment after the fact!

I wonder if you are confussing my runs with someone elses.

Kinky I was down to drive the last south coast run (26th Sept) but didn't make it

hence the thread was in my watched topics, some of the posts after the run made interesting reading......it gave me the same impression it obviously gave Kinky


if I too got the wrong impression then I apologise,but bear this in mind forum postings look very different when read out in court

No, I was not on your list to attend; and I did not go on your run. I only made the comment; as it was specifically commented on by someone else, who was on the run (copied below). Of course it's all open to interpretation; but would a MoP or a BiB interpret it as OK? I don't know. But obviously it was not commented on at the time.

I only raised it as it is always a concern when you have an open run like that. This is why most of the key ones are arranged privately. There have been instances in the past; and to be honest I'd rather not have a repeat of them.

But, I do know you do stress the safety aspects and remind every one. I was only commenting as such. But obviously it was not only my interpretation; as Chris read it the same way. We have had a very strong and dedicated local PH community in our area for many years now - where we have had lots of runs and events being organised.

The last thing I'd want is the minority spoiling it for the majority

I was on the 26 Sep run. Peppermint's pre-run briefing was the most thorough of any I have personally observed, and I've been on PH runs from the south coast to Wales to Scotland.

I didn't see any incidents myself, so can't say much either way on the veracity of the comment in question. I am certain that if Peppermint had observed anything then action would have been taken on the spot.

Experienced runners know that unless you have something positive to post after the run, better to not post at all. Plus if you really object to someone's behaviour, why not say so at the time? I also note that the driver of the blue Impreza responded on the thread to defend himself.

For what it's worth I disagree that "all the good ones are arranged privately". It would be a shame if PH events became elitist in-clubs open only to those in the know.

I was only commenting, based on what was said last time - that's all.

From what I've seen, the organisation looks pretty thorough; and encourages the safety/silliness message. And that's brilliant. And the fact that any idiotic behaviour should be highlighted during the run, at various stops is to be applauded

That's all.

There are no PH runs. Never have been; never will be ... with the exception of the PN organised hoons, like last weeks hoon across the US west coast - Corvettes en masse

A lot of runs are publicly arranged, and will continue to so. It's just unfortunate that it is how they can end up; as they either grow too big; or the wrong sort turn up.

Surely here is better than the south coast forum?

If you want local people to attend a local event - then the regional forum is the best place to get numbers. You won't get them from the national events forum.

I had over 40 sign up for my last run, I am very happy with that number and would like to continue posting in "Events & Meets" as that is where my regulars will look for future runs.

Yes, the guy who had made the original comment about "blind corners" did admit after I'd posted a response that with hindsight he was probably just a bit more cautious than I (as far as I know he was always at least three cars behind me so maybe his view wasn't the greatest either). I feel slightly aggrieved that his subsequent response wasn't mentioned above by Kinky!

From what I saw of others on the day, there was no dangerous driving and Peppermint gave a very measured and safety-aware 10 minute briefing beforehand, with others chipping in with their advice too (hence my comment about leaving proper braking distances).

The last thing anyone would want is an accident on one of these events and I think everyone who attended the last North Hants run behaved sensibly. Having met Peppermint more than once I know he wouldn't have hesitated to act if he'd been made aware of anyone driving irresponsibly and I think others would have supported him.
