The MEN said:
Three evil bullies who subjected a vulnerable teenager to a horrific three-day ‘torture’ ordeal have walked free from court.

Jack Bolton, Andrew Griffin, and Nathan Marshall used a mobile phone to film themselves carrying out depraved assaults on their 17-year-old victim. They kicked and stamped on his head, repeatedly punched him in the chest, beat him with a tennis racket, scratched his arms and leg with sandpaper, and threw him down a steep hill.

The terrified teenager – who suffers from autism and Asperger’s Syndrome – was also pelted with dog mess and forced to drink alcohol until he passed out. Mobile phone footage showed Bolton, Griffin, and Marshall, all 18, laughing and joking as they made him endure other abuse involving his own dog. And, in a final humiliating assault, they applied tape to his genital area before ripping it off.

The vicitm has now fled his home and is living in another part of the country. But the gang are back on the streets after a judge decided NOT to jail them.

Despite admitting the attacks were ‘grotesque’ and could ‘almost be called torture’, Judge Jonathan Geake instead handed out community service orders and three-month curfews as ‘an intensive alternative to custody’.

Victim's family: 'Torture' sentence is a joke

MP Hazel Blears' concern over gang's sentence

The decision was branded a ‘joke’ by the victim’s gran. And his aunt said: "He is just going to feel let down – like the boys have got away with it.They are bullies and they are known for it. They are scum." Hazel Blears, MP for Salford and Eccles, said she was shocked at the sentences and pledged to raise the issue with Justice Secretary Ken Clarke.

Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard how the victim had been ‘in total fear’ of the gang he had originally thought were his friends.

The assaults took place at Griffin’s house over three days in May when his parents were away on holiday. In harrowing footage of the abuse played in court, the victim could be heard begging tearfully: ‘Please don’t hurt me’.

The gang told police they carried out the attacks for no reason and because they were bored.

Bolton, of Winchester Road, Ellesmere Park, Eccles, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault. Griffin, of Appley Grange, Eccles, and Marshall, of Verdun Road, Eccles, admitted the same charges.

A police source said: "These people should have received a more severe sentence after what this young man had to endure."

I know of three 18 year old chavs who'd do that for fun...

I just wonder if things might be different had it been the judge idiot's child instead.

I really don't know which planet they find some of the judges from.

The law is becoming a joke - the scrotes know it - and it is a worry. As I always understood things, the law was supposed to represent the interests of the country and population. We know what happens when enough people, offenders and victims, feel it to be no longer of relevance? Gang rule and vigilante justice.

That's truly disturbing. How the hell can a judge take that attitude? It just goes to show they need a serious look at the standard of judges and their fitness to practice.

As for the scumbags that have effectively walked free, well, I hope what goes around comes around. People like that aren't fit to share the planet with normal folk.

For a first time offender it is almost impossible to be jailed for a section 20 GBH offence. You can leave someone with serious injuries in an unprovoked attack and you will walk free from court with a short curfew and a suspended sentence.

Its not just the judges fault though. The CPS are incompetent to the point of criminality. A rise in vigilantism is pretty well inevitable unless we start to hand out proper custodial sentances.

We only have the rule of law because the people accept that in return for not sending the boys round, the police, CPS, and court system will find and punish the guilty. Whats the point if when the police do their job the CPS and judges get their pants pulled down in court and rodgered silly by the offenders?

I'm not in law, but to me this is rank stupidity. If the case is in court and they have pled guilty, how can the CPS screw it up? If I go and beat the hell out of someone, get caught and admit guilt, I've got it coming to me and it is for the judge to sentence me as he sees fit. Why should the CPS have any bearing on this, or am I missing something simple here? Judges make directions all the time. There really is no excuse............

Presumably the judge had more information than is presented in a newspaper report designed purely to outrage people (and get more visitors, increasing web traffic for advertising revenue).

Granted, newspapers and television are there to capitalise on a situation, but unless the above is factually incorrect I see it as an open and shut case of some poor sod not getting the help and support he rightly deserved.

So the Judge was only acting within the sentencing guidelines provided to him by the CPS?

What is the procedure to alter the recommended sentences. Does it have to go through parliament or is it purely the decision of the government of the day?

One can only hope they pick on the wrong victim at some stage and get some justice.

yes, i don't think torturing someone and filming it for 3 days solid is anything other than brutal torture.

I would kill all 3 of them by chopping off their heads in a public square.

I don't see how anyone can argue with this.
You forgot to add "with a blunt axe"
