New cheese shop in Selby
Discussion
Now then, blatant plug here...
After quitting my job after almost 20 years in the Direct Mail (junk mail) industry I'm opening a cheese shop in Selby, N. Yorks!!!
A bit scary but just have to try something else.
So anyway, we're opening on Saturday 9th October at 12 noon, so if you're anywhere close by bob in for some top cheese, lovely chutneys, very local beers and ciders, port etc etc.
Sean Wilson (Martin Plat from Corrie) is opening the shop for us as he now makes some fine cheese. Should be a good day and I just hope Selby is ready for us!!!
Blimey.

Dickster, will you be doing mail order just out of interest?
We will be when I've found my feet, in about a week I reckon. We'll be doing set boxes, make your own boxes and also hampers. All to be developed a bit more, which is what I'm doing this week (no telly for me....). Dickster said:

If there are any hills you can roll some down, you might get some PR/local press.
There's a man whose never been to Selby! Next time I'm up visiting the olds I may have to pop in!
ETA - why did you choose Selby out of interest? I would've thought one of the other towns/cities nearby that are bigger/more touristy would be better at supporting a niche retailer. Or is it just cheap!

Mainly because I live just outside there having moved from Leeds 6 years ago but also because I think it needs something other than another bloody charity shop!!
I have this feeling it's on the cusp of something good but just needs a kick start. It has everything it needs to be a bit nicer.
York is saturated with things like this and is too expensive to get started in and I just think there are lots of villages surrounding Selby that would appreciate / support somewhere to get quality items from.
It ain't going to be cheap for the everyday norm but that's not the target market really. It's more of a treat yourself / dinner party shop.
