Is the new address of the EU Commission in London. Cost £20m to buy and £5m to furnish and decorate.
That's £25m of taxpayers money.
Previously they were renting offices nearby @ 165k per year. So they've spent about what, 75 years' rent buying this gaff? (I'm not working out the compound interest!)
FFS.

Conservative Party sold it for £30m in 2007 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1542159/Fin...
Perhaps they're looking to make a profit while the market is depressed.

Also very near there is their rather nice, but very discreet residency for the 'European Parliament UK Office' which is effectively the EU's 'foreign embassy' in London. All the apparatus of a 'Soverign State' without a democratic mandate. That's £25m of taxpayers money.
