Its going to be hard to reverse the tide as it is being driven by ambulance chasing lawyers not legislation.

I would still love it to happen

A lovely thought, but I really can't see it putting a noticeable dent in anything. Still, gotta be worth a punt.

How does a member of the public force an event to happen?

Just read this story and was about to post it myself, would be great if they could manage to reverse a bit of the tide. It is a better idea to start by limiting the power of the ambulance chasers to attract clients and restricting the stupid claims. We seriously need to stop the culture of "my stupidity is always someone else's fault" culture.

I think we can safety say (see what I did there?) is that this is a possible good start but there is a long way to go. A lot of people make an awful lot of money out of this legislation and they will go down fighting.

Hopefully they will tag on the Pat testing nonsense to this, I mean come on why should companies have to pay to test a piece of equipment sold in Crry's Pc World or boots for Crying out loud. Either A kettle is safe for sale or it isnt, why pay for the privilidge of confirming that, that Pc you just bought from Pc world business (taken from the same Stock in store) is safe to use.

Why should it not be true when it comes from the HSE. See this, nowhere does it say YOU MUST PAT test kettles.

Visual inpection, if it looks faulty PAT test should be (not must be) needed. Or if a kettle looks faulty, chuck it in the bin and buy another one for 20 quid. Save yourself the cost of calling out a Spark to tell you to buy another one...

If I ever get to own a car worthy of protecting I'll get back in touch hehe

regarding the PAT testing its often easier to just get a professional in for a day testing all equipment and doing it properly than have a member of staff doing it

i dont think any member of staff will want the respnsibility if the buck can be passed and ultimatley that is what it comes down to.

I agree that testing once a year is probably excessive.
