My good lady bought me the PS3 version of the game on Friday last week. Had fun over the weekend, but struggled with the controls, until the G27 I ordered arrived on Tuesday. Made the game much more controllable for me. Unfortunately, the PS3 is in our living room, so to avoid too many "conflicts", I picked a copy up yesterday for the PC.

Loaded it up last night, plugged in the wheel, and it's like playing totally different game. The game play seems, well, so pedestrian by comparison. I found the PS3 to be a frantic experience. Very fast paced - even too fast when learning a new track. The PC version, well, I posted the fastest lap in qualy and practice, and gave up after 5 laps in race, as there was nobody to chase down.

Had a play around with the graphics settings, to see if that "speeded" things up a little but to no avail. To be honest, the difference in gameplay didn't alter at all - just got less pleasing on the eye. Interesting to note, the PC had no problems even on the higher settings - no jagging or jittering, so I don't think it's that making the play seem so slow.

Does anyone know of any settings I may be missing?

Do you have the latest drivers installed? i know that can make a difference - you might be missing some effects or something that makes it look faster?

I didnt bother updating my drivers really until i was forced to one day and noticed a big difference in frames per second on team fortress 2 smile

PC is spec'd as follows :

Core i7 950 3.07Ghz
8 GB RAM
Nvidia geForce GTS 240
Win7 64bit Pro

Windows Ratings...
Processor : 7.5
Memory (RAM) : 7.5
Graphics : 6.9
Gaming Graphics : 6.9
Primary HDD : 5.9

Driver version for the graphics card is : 191.07, but I cannot see if it's dated. PC is only a few months old though.

Cheers Bradders.

Hardware is more than good enough.

Chances are if you let windows install your driver - that could cause a bottleneck, and if you installed a driver off the manufacturer cd, again thats bound to be old hat also.

Go to the Nvidia website and download the latest version, which i believe is 258.96 !!

Steve,

Upgraded the graphics driver without problem, but it still seems to be slower than the PS3 version. Having said that, it's not stopped me racing on it all night!

Cheers, Mark

Well, after spending much of the last week playing on the PC version, last night a mate came over, and we had a thrash on the PS3 version.

The game is TOTALLY different. As it was his first go, we played on easy easy easy options all the way. Full assists, so basically, all he had to do was keep the peddle flat, and stay on the racing line.

With the wheel setup (G27) with exactly the same settings as the PC, the gameplay is faster, less forgiving, and handles totally differently.

With these settings on the PC, you get pole every time, and win without a problem - every time. On the PS3, same car choice (we raced as Maclaren, Button) at spa, and the best even I qualified was 12th! The "race" dynamics are totally different also - the AI cars are far more "spontaneous" on the PS3 - hitting you from behind, and "cutting" into you far more often.

I am finding the differences quite puzzling indeed!
