Road World champs why so few Brits?

As per the title. We have 3 places in the mens road race. Morocco have 6!

How do they arrive at the number of invites?

Isn't it based on how British riders did over the year? in '09 Wiggins was 4th in the tour and Cav won some races thus we got more places in the championships. . . or do you know already know that bit and want to know exactly where the rider allocation points come from?

we are doing well but Cav gets dragged to the sprints by a lot of (non-British) HTC riders and Sky isnt solely a British domain... the olympics have been a special case and the result of some dedicated training programmes. a new breed of track riders is emerging and they are very promising. the european track championships next month will be a good chance to see progress.

Good video of Robbie McEwan riding the course ,Im not convinced its a sprinters course now I have seen it.Gilbert has been reported saying he now fancies his chances.Team GB didnt even go out and look it over before picking the squad ,shame on them.Italians have put a perfect tema togehther and will be strong on the day ,the last few laps will be worth watching

i think there is a strong chance at least one Brit female will be on the podium come saturday in the road race too.

check bbc2 for highlights though it may be live on lthe red button....

gutted for Cooke, especially after Pooley had worked so hard throughout the race. the pack were really speeding in the final 500m and she should have just ditched Arndt earlier..... in fact Cooke could have gone as they rounded that final right hander ala beijing 2008, it was clear Arndt had nothing in her legs and was holding Cooke back.... tomorrow should be fun....

and they said it wasnt a sprinters course.....so who is wearing the rainbow jersey next year?.... a sprinter! great effort from thor today, that final sprint was epic and they were really powering up that final climb to the finish.
