Cuts in tyres - bin?

Have some cuts in my City Jets, 5mm length in two places on the contact area, from what I can see through to the inner tube (which surprisingly hasn't gone flat) and they are pulled apart slightly by the inflated tyre

I assume they are a writeoff? I did go for a ride on them last night, but perhaps this wasn't the most sensible idea. Can they be glued back together?

Actually the fact they are £10 each at Halfords makes it a bit of a moot point

You could take a risk with a tyre boot, but I'd only do that on a rear tyre. Front is bin, IMO.

Before you bin them, cut a couple of 6"x 3" sections so you can keep handy in your saddlebag in case it happens again, you can put the piece of old tyre in between the tube and the cut and still ride home

I always throw away split tyres as its not worth the risk. I recently used a £35 Schwalbe tyre once and had to end up bining it!

Supaglue is very good at sealing off cuts in tyres. Apply to cut with tyre inflated and release air before it cures. Works for me.

Took the tyre off and there were three holes through the tyre and loads of light 'slashes' on the contact area. God knows what I've been cycling through but I suppose at 90psi they take a beating on flinty tracks
