I had a passenger with some bags in the boot yesterday, and when it came to offloading time I sent them round the back to get their own bags - I'm not Jeeves, dagnabbit - and they complained that they couldn't get the boot open.

I never really noticed it before, because I've been doing it so long, but I tend to have to wiggle the badge between the top of the T and the bottom of the N a few times in order to pop the boot.

Are most Tuscans like this, or do I just have a dodgy catch?

Mine's the same. Need to keeping twiddling with the boot release whilst with the other hand trying to lift the boot lid.It only seems to operate the boot release at certain points - on the left handside of the badge in my case.

I had the same problem but it was solved by Phil of PR Motor bodies. The extremely technical and money consuming remedy was a two pence piece

I normally let a passenger sit up front with me...
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have the same issue too... I tell passengers to get used to it...

The rear badge is held on by 2 10mm bolts (I think they are 10, might be 8 or 9 though) which can be accessed through the round plastic covers in the boot (stick your head in the boot and look towards where the number plate is and you will see them, about 100mm accross), you need smallish hands and will get scratched but you can get to them!

Behind the badge is a small button which does the boot opening job, try adjusting the bolts so that the badge presses on to the button more (not too much or you will not be able to keep the boot shut - the continual sound of the catch opening will let you know it is too tight!)

My boot opener is fine now, used to be a bit temperamental until I changed the badge
