good lad Nick I unlocked this last night and played a bit.
Looks nice, but not as awesome as I was expecting.
Physics felt a bit arcadey - but then I usually race iRacing only, and more recently the Ferrari Virtual Academy. This feels numb and disconnected in comparison to those. Also there are really obvious arcadey bits; like how you 'spin' but don't actually spin.
Having said that, I've only actually driven 6 laps so far (at Silverstone, 3 in time trial, 3 in a race). I got more used to it over those laps and it is definitely fun. I am going to enjoy the career mode, and I think once I get the feel for the cars it'll start to shine more.
AI might be too easy though; I was playing on expert with all aids off and although I didn't win the race it was surprisingly easy to keep up with the other cars (when I wasn't in the gravel!).
Will try it more tonight and feed back - if I don't get caught up on Civ5 again...

Just had a couple of hours on this.
It doesn't run amazingly well on my PC but I wasn't expecting it to. With reasonable settings it never goes below 25fps but feels a bit choppy in places. People have said it doesn't look that good but it easily surpasses console games if playing at decent resolution. I maxed everything out for my first race, looked really good but was unplayable. Sense of speed is pretty good, which makes a change from Forza. When you're hammering through Eau Rouge at 190mph it feels really quick.
Aside from the graphics issues, it's pretty damn good. The only thing is the AI are too easy to beat. Then again I am playing with TC on some kind of midway between on/off setting, due to my wheel being quite old (Logitech Momo Force) and not having a very sensitive throttle pedal. I've left ABS on as well for similar reasons. All the other assists are off though. It's quite easy to spin the car if you're not concentrating but generally quite easy to drive. I tried it with everything off and it was ridiculous. Manual gears was annoyingly hard as well because of how quickly you go through the 7 gears. Trying to do that and concentrate on the track/other cars was really hard to get to grips with. I very much doubt I'll be an F1 driver in real life
I'm not too impressed by all this interview/press conference stuff. Seems a bit pointless. Maybe it'll come into play more throughout the season. I've only done one race in the career mode so far. Had a few normal races to get used to the game and set up my controls etc. Still not happy with how the wheel is responding, so need to tweak things. Shame there's no way to do this while in game. You have to go back to the menus each time as far as I can work out
I also can't find where to set the button for the 'flashback' thing to rewind the game though. There isn't an option to set it - any ideas? Had to restart race a couple of times as I wasn't satisfied with anything but first. When the AI cocks up or gets really defensive and you go into the back of them, it gives you a 10 second penalty, or sometimes a drive through. It'd be fine on a full length race but on a 10 lap race, it's very difficult to come back from a drive through. The other thing is I was told to pit on lap 3 of 10! Is this normal? I've not followed F1 properly for a while but it seems silly to pit at 30% race completion for new tyres etc.
Overall a pretty good game but don't expect a hardcore sim like iracing, liveforspeed, gtr2 or rfactor

Although this may sound weird bare with me, there seems to be a issue with the sound driver that causes not great sound and also fps lag. If you go to your settings and check sound make sure it says software and not the other crap they included. I noticed a difference straight away. Cant help with the flashbacks as ive got them all switched off.
So far its a cracking game, ive not yet managed to finish the monaco race with all aids off i just keep battering the car and the AI is so fast!!. Still loving it though.
Right ive just read through a few posts on other forums and it would seem that possibly a choice you make at the begining of the game has quite a drastic effect on the AI skill.
You are asked you choose your skill level, some people are saying if you select easy here and then in the options change the AI to ledgendary and all aids off the AI is still easier than if you picked the hardest setting at the beginging.
I dont know if its true or not, but i picked the hardest setting as i didnt want a half arsed easy game and it is by no means easy.

I am a iRacer myself and i can say straight away if you looking for it to beat or better iracing you will be disapointed. It is a totally different type of game.iRacing is a very serious sim, F1 2010 is not. F1 is based around the atmosphere and feeling of racing in game, The closest it feels to iRacing is wet weather driving as only then does the car feel on tiptoes in corners.
The game should be taken as a fun sim, thats enjoyable to drive and to progress with. F1 2010 is not a dedicated hardcore sim like iracing, ferrari challenge etc.

Found the flashbacks. You have to do an instant replay and then there's the option to reset the car.
Monaco is horribly difficult for me. Keep hitting wheels on fences and losing my front wing, resulting in understeer. It's really fun to drive monaco though. Getting a good clean lap time is a real achievement
