which colour alloys?
Discussion
I had the same dilema last year.
See here:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I had a slight preference over black but ideally wanted somewhere inbetween.
In the end (and for only slightly more money), I took the brand new wheels (tyres not yet fitted) and had them powder coated in a dark grey with a heavy metallic sparkle. I decided that if I was spending £1400 on wheels and tyres, what difference does £150 make to have them exactly as I wanted them?
See 2nd page of the thread I posted above for a closeup of what I ended up with.
As an aside note, if you get the "Jade R" alloys off ebay, they won't be the correct offset - regardless of what your told. They will fit but will be the wrong offset.
If you get them from Dom at TVR Power, they'll be the right wheels for the car, won't have the horible "Jade R" inscription on the wheel and won't upset the handling.
In answer to your original question, if your not going to paint the wheels, I'd always go for black with an orange car, although wheel colour choice is a very personal thing and you should go with what YOU think looks best.

Anyone know who makes the ones being sold by Tunstall Vehicle Repairs (as advertised in Sprint)? Are they Jade R, or are they the same as Dom's? Plus, who makes the ones for Dom?
Team dynamics make both the Jade R and the TVR Power wheels. It is basically the same wheel but TVR Power have struck a deal with team dynamics to make the wheels WITHOUT the Jade R inscription and with a unique offset.
You could always enquire about the ones in sprint. If they don't have the Jade R inscription, they are the real TVR deal. Tunstall vehicle repairs might buy them from Dom and resell them?

No question in my mind: go for black rims!!!
A mate of mine has his painted mat black with glossy endlayer.
Looks the business!

I'm sure the brake upgrade issue will always roll on and do feel that without all the hi tech gizmos on other car's in relation to traction control and brake distribution, the original setup gave a good balance of feel and bite.
The Setup on mine is bigger than standard and do give more ultimate stopping power from higher speeds but the calipers give less feel in slippery / slower conditions. Weight is about the same but bigger disk are going to have an effect on turn in, slowing it down a tad, but hardly noticable.
Would I pay 2 grand for the upgrade plus rears I got thrown in? No, but the wonders of flebay got them at half that so I'm happy. Have reverted back to a harder road pad as that helps with the harsh bite issue once hot / damp weather, not sure they would work on the track.
Individual choice is what our cars are about.

Peter, what are the HI-SPEC brakes like? I'm wondering if I need something more substantial than Sagaris brakes for my new project...
Before you go with these people on the braking system . Look on griffith forum under "Brake court case yes i won"Anyone know who makes the ones being sold by Tunstall Vehicle Repairs (as advertised in Sprint)? Are they Jade R, or are they the same as Dom's? Plus, who makes the ones for Dom?
I bought the Tunstall VR wheels. They seem to be identical to Doms, wheel nuts are different and a bit more fiddly to remove. Also came with TVR logo centre caps included in price if you ask.
