Which sacrilegious coffee pod machine?
Discussion
Can open, worms everywhere.......
Anyway, I have a Magimix and think its great. Done the whole Gaggia thing and changed when that machine gave up the ghost, far easier and more consistent although some would argue not 'authenic'.
Only downside is that the pods are quite expensive if you are drinking industrial quantities. On the other hand, if you are not, each coffee is 'fresh' as the pods are sealed rather than having ground coffee that will go stale if you don't use quickly enough.

I agree 100% about the cost - it gets ridiculous if you drink coffee regularly. Are the Nespresso pods individually sealed then? I had a Senseo machine a couple of years back, and the pods came in packs of a couple of dozen, but once the pack was open, I imagine they went stale as quickly as normal ground coffee.
They used to sell the senseo type pods everywhere, all own brands too to help with cost - Tescos finest Java was lovely
they used to work in the Gaggia as well to help me keep the mess down - and it tasted far better made in that than the Senseo machine, now all you can find is the proper Senseo pods

Another Magimix nespresso owner here. I have the Citiz with Milk Steamer and Cooler (perfect to iced lattes)
However, the milk doesn't quite get hot enough for my liking, but it is perfect for the Mrs so you can't have it both ways.
I'm mainly an espresso drinker and for quick minimal fuss cups in the morning it is perfect.
If you go to a John Lewis they normally have them out for tasting so go and make your own mind up.

Nespresso x whatever.
A great machine.
Agreed. In the Nespresso Boutique they told us that there was no difference in the coffee produced between all the machines. What I don't understand is why the built in Nespresso machine is over 1000 pounds, do manufacturers charge a grand for anything that is built in in the kitchen?A great machine.

Never tried a Nespresso, how do they compare to a Gaggia type machine?
I only use a Gaggia, just a pain in the bum, messy, keeps clogging up... though now I know where it clogs up I will clean it properly next time
For me the machine that's just arrived (Krups CitiZ) is every bit as good as the Gaggia it replaces.I only use a Gaggia, just a pain in the bum, messy, keeps clogging up... though now I know where it clogs up I will clean it properly next time

Zero mess, zero fuss, heats up far quicker and the end product is spot on.
I'm converted. Utterly.
Dolce Gusto for me as there's no faffing about with frothing milk either - just lob in a capsule for it, then one for the coffee (or mocha/chocolate/espresso whatever). Probably deeply unhealthy as a result - but by gum, it tastes good
Perfect every time and zero cleaning to be done. It's the best kitchen gadget I've ever bought.
