But if you do an electric power steering conversion using a Corsa column . . . . . . In theory the Corsa B electric power steering column can be made to fit with a bit of "engineering" (it doesn't just bolt in). been a bit of chat about this in the past but not sure anyone has actually completed an installation yet ?
Believe this is a popular mod with various kit cars and recall someone on the Chim forum was also looking at it (may be easier as they use a Vauxhall column ?)

Part of the problem is that the steering column bracket may not be strong enough.
With manual steering you apply the torque yourself - so your arms react aginst the steering wheel - and your arms apply the torque just incase you failed to notice
The steering column just supports the column but doesn't really take any force - your arms do that.
Fitting the electric column means that the column mounting bracket is providing the mounting for the unit that provides the torque if that makes sense - so the column bracket may need to be much stronger - the question is whether its up to it in its present form.
It may work but if over time you're creating fatigue / cracks etc it could be an issue if it fails in the future.
Think how much torque you need to turn the wheels standing still, then how much force that bracket will be taking.
