I have a problem!
The day before my LMS championship starts with a biggy at the home of british motor racing, my Xbox has begun with an intermittent RROD.
Came up once last night, then worked fine, WHAT DO I DO??
I have had RROD before and I know the proceedure for sorting it out, but it will mean being without a console for a couple of weeks while im fighting at the top of the Coupes and starting the LMS!

I'm the 'proud' owner of a PS3 and I got the piss taken out of me for months at work. Then within the space of about a month the 3 guys who had 360s all got RROD and decided it was time to buy a PS3. They ALL agreed it was far better than the 360 and complained that I hadn't explained this to them earlier. (I had but they wouldn't listen). Move over to the dark side.
ETA: I work for a software company, these guys are all what you'd call 'serious' gamers.

Anyway, ref your problem. It got to the stage for me that when mine failed for the 4th time in 4 years, i bought an elite and kept the other as a spare as i know at some point the other one will go. A friend is borrowing the spare but i can always go and nab it back!

The only reason i got an Xbox was because of Live, and the amount of people on here that play Forza. Other than that it's sThey are better anyway.
t.But Godric, they're doing some quite good deals at the moment on last of the line previous-gen Elites over here, not sure if they are in France?

grab a ps3/another xbox - can never have too many options 
ive had 3 xbox (replacements due to rrod).. got a bit fed up with it so when the last one was with MS again i picked up an elite.. allowing the original xbox (on its return) to sit in the lounge for communal gaming with the mrs (buzz etc).
then the elite in the games room started playing up (over heating with excessive use) so i picked up a ps3.. needed something to save my sanity.
now i dont have any troubles as my gaming time is shared between the 360 and the ps3.
my elite has been faultless since i reduced its workload.
i normally start off with the 360 in the evenings (when the mrs is watching soaps
).. playing forza3 or getting knackered with rockband.
Then i'll have a break once the cr*p tv is over, and later in the evening when the mrs has gone to bed will move on to the ps3 for some mw2.
if your gaming alot then multi boxes is the only way to stop all these rrod's, ylod's that are occur all too frequently.
the ps3 is a great bit of kit, but as already said xbox live is the better experience, just doesnt matter that the ps3 isnt as "slick" when you have a 360 to use aswell.. and at least it doesnt cost 30quid a yr just to game online

Im still in france! and will be for the forseeable future.
Cant afford a new console, trying to see if I can steal my brothers but he has sold it to a friend, a year ago and still hasn't been paid!
360 is the important console for me because of Forza and the 35+ other games that are now worthless but I still play from time to time, not to mention the £300+ in DLC!
Im going to try and coax it through to the end of the month, if I can get it sent off to MS on the 29th, there is a slim (positivly annorexic) chance that it will be back before I need it for the next round of the LMS.

set a fan up blowing air over it. that should help keep it cool , i think the rrod's (permanent and temporary) are all temperature related. before i picked up the ps3 i was using a fan to blow over my 360 constantly for my marathon gaming sessions (eg weekends). worked a treat.. if a little noisy
~edit : i have the 360 on its side and placed the fan to blow on the bottom bit opposite end of hdd, the heat flys out the back/top area.
