I bought myself a Canon EOS 450D a while ago and pretty much every weekend I go out, it comes with me.
Six weeks ago I bought a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L series lens which cost me £1200. I got it insured the same day. Later that night, I went out with my camera & new lens and ended up getting so drunk that I blacked out on the walk home. I left my camera & lens in the middle of the street and got woken up by the police in some random persons garden about half a mile away.
Thankfully someone found my camera and handed it into the police station that morning so I got it back.

Last friday, a similar thing happened, apart from this time I had my camera, lens and laptop in my bag (so over £2k's worth of stuff) and once again, some good citizen found it and held onto it for me and I got it back tonight. I'm so happy, so lucky, and soooooo going down to that womans house with a big bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine!

Think I'm gonna behave myself next time I have my equipment out with me, either that or leave it at home!

So glad there are still some good people in the world smile

I'm looking at getting the 16-35mm and this seems like a good offer you're proposing.

Where exactly do you go drinking - what time do you generally leave the pub. Which route do you go home. smile

Why lucky?

So far you have blown some money on insurance you don't seem to need ....

Mind you it will make for an interesting read on the insurance claim form when the time comes.

Just be careful that the insurance company don't use the 'contributary negligence' cause to avoid paying out should your camera ever go missing under such circumstances.

Getting blotto and leaving your camera lying in the street may be viewed like leaving the keys in your car whilst paying for your petrol. I am sure insurance companies would find some wriggle room in that to avoid a payout.

To be honest, that was something I was very conscious of.

I think I might get myself a cheaper compact for the weekends.

sorry but anyone that can get so drunk they forget everything is not lucky. I would say cursed. I have always marvelled at those people that stagger around computing on 1-2 brain cells just able to breath. Never happened to me, i can always sort my self out regardless ifs its 3 bottles of wine or 12 strongbow.

However i would be very carefull with your stuff from now on, seems like your luck has been used up...

Thats the odd thing, I look and act sober. I can always walk fine. Its just my mind shuts down. I've even woken up while walking home. Once I even crossed the dual carriageway while basically sleeping.

Scary when I woke up in a very random place.

Agreed, but think laterally - follow him round and pick up all the cameras...
