PS3 newbie..reccomend me some games! + some queries

Hallo!

I've had a ps2 for yonks, but never bought the 3. Going to go and buy one tomorrow methinks hopefully.

Soo.. couple of queries


How much GB of memory do I actually NEED? I don't think I'd ever fill a 160..never mind a 250 or 320, or am I wrong?

Will the controllers be forever running out of battery?

How do you connect up to play online? Is it free or paid?

Fancy buying myself a decent steering wheel too...any reccomendations? Or do they still suck like they used to?

Oh and, reccomend me some games please! Obviously I'll be wanting GT5 when it eventually comes out so I'll get prologue. Used to like the Splinter Cell games, silent hill, TOCA, F1, moto GP, GTA, medal of honour etc... Would appreciate some ideas of what to get!

Oh, and I've never played Metal Gear Solid in my life. Am I missing out as much as I've been told??

Depends on what you want to put on your ps3 but i think over 100gig is plenty.

The controllers battery last for ages, a few days at least.

Online play is free unlike the Xbox.

theres loads of PH throughout the day and night.



Metal gear is a cracking game another + here and god of war 3 is a epic game!

Not sure about a steering wheel but from what i have heard they work well.

just get fallout 3, that should keep you going till sometime next year.

No real reason to buy new games at this point - Unless there's any new game you particularly want, I'd recommend looking at older games second-hand for sub-£20.

As for particular recommendations, I thoroughly enjoyed Uncharted 1 & 2, and Valkyria Chronicles will give you a challenging game with plenty of length, if you're into RPGs or Strategy.

Ive just got myself a logitech driving force pro gt , and its a cracking steering wheel. MW2 is a damn good game as others have said but id also recommend Need for speed shift as its a great game to have with a sterring wheel.

Get the PS3 with the largest memory capacity you can afford, you will be suprised how quick it fills up.

I have only the 40GB and I hate having to delete games to reinstall another game then having to download and install all the patches for the reinstalled game.

I only have the 80GB but I've got loads of songs, a few films and an entire series of the intbetweeners on it and all is well.

As above, get Fallout 3 - that'll keep you going for a while and even better, get the Game of the Year Edition with all the extra Quests.

For online gaming I'd say either Modern Warfare or Battlefield Bad Company. I prefer Bad Company myself as you get to use vehicles.

All of the above + Assassins Creed 2 and Dirt 2 (for an OK driving game). Of course the real game!! to buy comes out beginning of November.

Oh and I forgot to add that Fallout New Vegas comes out soon as well....... Soooo by the time you've got even half way though Fallout 3 (it's a serious time vampire) you'll have Vegas to play!

Gt 5 comes on November 3rd so I skip Prologe if I were you and treat yourself to Infamous, Grand Theft Auto IV and UFC Undisputed.

You can always upgrade the hard drive in a PS3, it's a standard SATA laptop drive in it, my mate has just put a 640GB drive in his.

P.s not interested in having a headset so I can talk to 12 year old kids from america while they kick my ass! Just the basics..

It comes with built in Wifi so you just need a wireless router (or you can hard wire).

A headset is quite useful though for games like MW2 and Battlefied as chatting can be very helpful to winning - AND you can mute the ones you don't like.

As jas said it's all just plug and go really.
Just go to settings then network settings and it's pretty straight forward.
Then you want and create a PSN account which let's you play online.
Once you've done that post up you username on here and what games you have so people can add you!

Nah, they do last a while. Use the supplied usb cable to charge them, can even play whilst charging - easy as.

Pick up a copy of GTA Episodes from Liberty City (used - well under £20 now).
2 games on 1 disc = good value.

Spent like the best part of an hour setting it up and downloading prologue, not actually played on it yet!!

Anyway so far I have prologue gt5 (pre ordered full game), fallout3, gta iv and ufc undisputed...online user name is Yazza54... Though ive not actually used it yet!
