GOURANGA signs on motorway bridges?

They used to be everywhere, now you hardly see them. I looked up what it meant, and it is a word associated with Hare Krishnas meaning happiness.

Also, why did they appear in so many places? Who was putting them up?

No insight there sorry..

..But does anyone remember the "London Thing" scrawl on the 44 miles sign for London (east bound obviously) on the M4?

"Give peas a chance" on that bridge, Rickmansworth on the M25 clockwise. Who put that there and when?

Same here, always look out for that one.

Very random, and probably not so easy to do?

Just said 'peas' for years before becoming the finished article.

I love things like that.

In a similar vein there was a homeless man in an underpass in Lincoln, holding a box of Kleenex offering the "Big Tissue."

Indeed, disappeared a couple of years ago IIRC.

Always disappoints me when I drive past Pucklechurch near Brizzle and find the sign has been replaced.

So apparently was a graffiti artist called 'Peas' and the rest was added around it.

Is he still? There, I mean. Not still bent. Presumably once a bender always a bender but does the bridge still declare him to be so?

If not I can feel a night-time mission coming on evil

I took this picture on our narrowboat holiday of a wall in Stoke purely in memory of M Khan on the North Circular.
