Canon 7D lens choice
Discussion
Hi all...
About to take the plunge and upgrade to a 7D from my 400D...... I currently have 10-20 Sigma, 50 f/1.8 Canon, and 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS Canon lenses
I'm considering a general 'walkabout' lens to keep on the 7D the majority of times... and have narrowed it down to the following
17-55 f/2.8 Canon EF-S USM IS
28 f/1.8 Canon USM
L series 24-70 f/2.8 Canon USM
L serier 25-105 f/4.0 Canon USM IS
Any advice, or indeed other suggestions most welcome.... I'm very much swaying towards the 24-70 but am concerned about the overall weight

I went from a 400d to a 7d at the beginning of this year and if I go out with only one lens it is always the 24-105L. When I bought it (originally for my old 400d) it was because for the loss of a stop it is lighter, has a longer reach and image stabilization over the 24-70. The later only really makes sense to me for the people who are also carrying a second lens, though opinions will certainly vary on this question.

I have the 24-70 2.8 and it's a stunning lens, but there is an argument for the reach of the 24-105 4.0.About to take the plunge and upgrade to a 7D from my 400D...... I currently have 10-20 Sigma, 50 f/1.8 Canon, and 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS Canon lenses

It would be one of those two for me

I have the 24-105 and love it. I have used the 24-70 a fair bit but the weight on the 7D is a killer for general use.
The only thing is that 24mm just isn't quite wide enough and F4 isn't quite shallow enough at 24... but both compromises work fine for me as I often carry either a 10-22 or the sigma 30 1.4 in the bag as well.
I love the shots the 30mm produces so recently I've started 'risking it' and just carrying only it when travelling light.
