Yep. I'll be filling the Chimaera today to the brim! Another reaming from Gordo scheduled for later today...my personal tax bill has risen by a vast amount over the last 4 years..did the calculations a couple of days ago and its enough to make you weep.

I've got a social concience - I just can't believe it costs so much (or maybe I can..traffic calming..tax camera investment...). Grrr.

Interesting point, any petrol station that puts the price up immediately is ripping you off (certainly in the case of independents). The tax is applied to the retailer at the time of loading the delivery tanker, therefore any fuel in the storeage tanks is already taxed. In the case of oil company owned stations it would depend whether the retail arm was a separate company, if so the same applies. If, by some strange accident, the tax was reduced you can bet nobody would reduce the price immediately.

I'll get my anorak now (8 years in the petrol retail traded makes you boring.... and good at the 17.5 times table!).
